After edging past 14 prospective brides Nikunj, Dimpy and Harpreet have become the top three contenders vying to become Rahul’s wife. They have done their bit to impress Rahul – they have cooked him a meal, wooed him with love letters and taken care of kids.

Now the entire nation is eagerly waiting for Rahul’s decision that he will take Saturday and it will be telecast live on the channel from 9 p.m. onwards.

All the three girls are a little tense but excited.

“For some strange reason, I am not nervous but very excited. I am just finalizing my outfit for my Big Day. I am hoping I am lucky enough to be Rahul’s bride, ” said Nikunj.

Dimpy is experiencing mixed feelings.

“I am very excited yet nervous at the same time. I am really looking forward to 6th March, ” she said.

Harpreet too is nervous and says “apart from marrying Rahul, great responsibilities too will come along. I hope Rahul’s decision is in my favour.”

The wedding will take place in a luxurious suburban hotel in Mumbai where the who’s who of society will grace the occasion to shower their blessings on the couple.

Ace designers Vikram Phadnis, Neeta Lulla and Ashley Rebello will dress up Rahul’s brides-to-be.

Rahul plans to go to Maldives and Ireland for his honeymoon, if a court which is holding his passport allows him to do so. He is facing charges of using prohibited drugs.

But amidst all the ongoing celebration someone is not happy with one of Rahul Mahajan’s bride in-waiting Dimpy Ganguly. Maureen Wadia the owner of Gladrags has slapped a show cause notice on Dimpy Ganguly for breaking an exclusive contract with Gladrags and taking part in a TV reality show.

According to her, the Kolkata based model has violated the terms of a contract that she signed to be part of the Gladrags Mega Model Hunt 2009. Though she did not win the crown, she was chosen as Miss Potential by the judges.

The president of Gladrags Magazine claims she has been repeatedly trying to bring the breach of contract to Dimpy’s notice but has not got a response from the contestant, NDTV Imagine or her parents.

Talking to a leading daily visibly irked Marureen says, “I knew Dimpy was a troublesome girl from the moment I set my eyes on her. We had a very tough time managing her. She had scant regard for discipline. A number of times Dimpy would vanish after late night rehearsals and report at 4 pm for a 10 am call time. I had given her a solid firing during the pageant.

There were incidents where she would vanish at 3am and emerge a couple of hours later. Then she would say with a straight face that she had gone to meet a friend in Malad.”

“Imagine a girl, who had come to Mumbai for the first time, going to Malad from Wadala at 3am just to meet friends! And now, I see the same girl turning coy, flirting with Rahul left, right and centre and promising to be a good wife,” she adds.

As per sources, Dimpy had to procure a NOC from Gladrags before entering any other contest as she is under the three-year contract but she violated the terms and went ahead to do Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.

Maureen is also doubtful of Dimpy turning out to be a good wife for Rahul Mahajan.

“I don’t know how someone who lies like this will make a good wife. I would have been happy to let her do anything had she asked me once,” laments Maureen.

“If she hadn’t participated in the Mega Model Hunt and I hadn’t trained her to bring her to the level that she is at today, she wouldn’t be on this show at all. Such ‘fame amnesia’ on the part of the models has to stop,” she adds.

“Koshish jaari hai (attempts are on), ” Mandira, who tied the knot with filmmaker Raj Kaushal in 1999, quipped on being asked about when she is planning to go the family way.

“I am totally ready to experience the joys of motherhood and I am mentally geared up for it. In my head, I am ready for it. The sooner it happens, the better, ” added the 37-year-old.

Mandira was here to attend the ongoing Good Housekeeping Show 2010, where she was invited as a celebrity guest along with actress Raveena Tandon.

But the actress says handling a child and managing her professional life simultaneously would not be easy for her as she doesn’t have her family in Mumbai.

“It (managing a child) will become a little difficult for me as I don’t have a lot of family support in Mumbai. My parents live in Delhi and my in-laws stay in US, ” she said.

Dressed in a sexy, hot pink dress and lots of silver bangles, Mandira completely defied her age.

Having earned fame at a young age through popular TV show “Shanti” in 1994, Mandira kept making appearances in movies like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” after which she hosted a string of reality shows. In 2008, she was seen in the film “Meerabai Not Out”, a film based on cricket.

So what’s keeping her busy these days?

“I am doing a lot of theatre. I am involved with two plays – one of them will be staged for the 151st time soon and the other has had three shows, ” she said.

“Also the cricket season is here, so I am doing corporate shows and I will be associated with the IPL (Indian Premiere League (IPL) cricket tournament) in a way I haven’t been before. I can’t reveal much about it. But yes, IPL will be taking up the next month and a half of my life, ” said Mandira.

As for her absence from the Bollywood scene, she said: “Filmmakers don’t know what to do with me. With my short hair, they don’t know whether to cast me as a man or woman.

No, jokes apart, they either offer me item numbers or sister’s roles or a lead with some inconspicuous banner – none of which is what I want to do. So I am just waiting and keeping myself busy.”

Says Deepika, “We had to return on Monday night because many of us had to leave for Dubai for the premiere on Tuesday morning. So we from Jaipur to Mumbai we all booked ourselves into the economy class of a commercial airline.”

What could’ve turned out to be a nightmare turned out to be a joyride for Deepika and her team and perhaps not such a pleasurable experience for the other late-fliers on board.

Says Deepika gleefully, “We had blocked a whole row and instead of sleeping after a super-hectic day we started playing Mendicot. We forgot we were in a commercial flight. So we were yelling and screaming in excitement while the rest of the passengers were trying to sleep.”

And now for the first time in her life Deepika is seriously addicted. “I can’t stop playing Mendicot. Ritesh and Farhan introduced me and director Vijay Lalwani to the game. When we took off on Sunday from Mumbai on our private jet the first thing Farhan and Ritesh did was to teach us this game. I’ve become addicted.”

This could qualify as the biggest irony of the the entertainment industry in recent times.

While going a whirlwind tour of cities across the country to promote her new film Kartik Calling Kartik Deepika Padukone has gotten addicted to playing cards, which is what this week’s rival film Teen Patti is about.

Deepika flew out of Mumbai in private jet on Sunday and Monday with her co-star Farhan Akhtar, director Vijay Lalwani and producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

Sighs Deepka, “I l-o-v-e-d the whirlwind tour. For two days I had more fun than I’ve had in my entire life. Throughout the trip we played Mendicot –not teen patti, please! We didn’t sleep at all for two days because some of the flight- duration was less than two hours. So all we did was play Mendicot on flight.”

Now Deepika is hopelessly addicted to the game.

On Tuesday Deepika headed for Dubai.”It has been a hectic time. We covered six cities in two days. …three cities a day. It was possible only because the producer hired a private jet.”

What is your role in Teen Patti?
I play the role of Aparna Khanna who is a studious girl and is also a guitarist in her college’s music band. Aparna is a very intriguing person. The film is all about Aparna’s journey and how during the journey Aparna starts discovering things about her which surprise her.

Do you think Teen Patti is the right launching pad for a newcomer like you?
Teen Patti, let me reiterate is not a quintessential Indian cinema about boy meets girl. Nor is it about gambling. Gambling forms just the backdrop of the film Teen Patti.

It is something which Indian cinema has not seen before. I thought that the script was very gripping and my role was well etched. I really felt that the film was good enough to be my launching pad.

To what extent could you relate to the character of Aparna in the film?
With my glasses on, I look like Aparna at home. I could relate to the role of Aparna to some extent since we look almost similar. The curiosity which both Aparna has and I have is another similarity between both of us.

Did you learn acting to equip yourself for the part that you are playing in Teen Patti?
I did not learn acting from any acting Institute. I learnt acting from my dad and Padmini mausi. As far as preparing for my part for the film Teen Patti was concerned, Mohit Tugnait taught me the nuances required for the role of Aparna.

How was the experience of working with an actor like Amitabh Bachchan?
I was extremely excited and also very nervous at the same time because I had got the opportunity to work with a legendary actor like Amitabh Bachchan in my very first film. The stature of the film was set automatically because of the presence of Amitabh Bachchan.

Did the fact that you are Shakti Kapoor’s daughter help you bag your first break easily?
Just because I happen to the daughter of Shakti Kapoor and the niece of Padmini Kolhapure, the role did not just land on my lap on a silver platter.

I got my break on my own merit. Not many are aware of the fact that I had actually gone to audition for the role. It helped me that Ambika Hinduja who is the producer of Teen Patti had seen my picture on Face Book.

However, I would admit that the biggest advantage that I have is that people know me better even before I have made my debut as an actress because the media is more interested in me because I am the daughter of a celebrity like Shakti Kapoor.

I also confess that I have more connections in the film industry because of dad and hence people know that I exist.

And what according to you is the flip side of the coin?
The flip side is that people will compare me with my dad and my mausi. All that I’d say is that even if I have 2 percent of the talent that they have, I’ll be happy.

How intimidating was it to share the frame with Amitabh Bachchan?
It was simply a great learning experience to work with an actor of the stature of Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitji knew that he would unknowingly make us feel intimidated and hence he made it a point not to spare us and left no opportunity to pull our legs and make us shed our inhibitions and feel comfortable and at ease while working with him.

In fact, I’d be worried if I was not asked to give a retake or Amitji did not give me any suggestion to improve myself.

What did you find interesting about Mr. Bachchan, as an actor?
It was interesting to note that Amitji used to cut himself off and be aloof whenever he had to do a serious scene. Amitji made me realize to what extent you have to go as an actor to go inside yourself to perform the character that you are playing.

What about your experience of working with R. Madhavan?
Working with an actor like R. Madhavan, who we used to call Maddy fondly was great fun. Maddy taught me a lot of card tricks while we were shooting on the sets for the film.

What kind of roles do you like to take up as an actress?
As an actress, I’d like to do a wide range of roles and be a part and parcel of what is known as versatile cinema.

Which films of your mausi do you like the best?
Prem Rog is my most favorite film among all the films in which my aunt Padmini Kolhapure has acted.

Who are your favorite directors?
Among the directors who I’d like to work with are Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar, to name a few.

Who are your favorite actors and actresses today?
My most favorite actor among the stars of today is undoubtedly Ranbir Kapoor who has shown a lot of caliber even though he is only four films old till date. Among the actresses of today, I like Priyanka Chopra as well as Vidya Balan who are performers of the first order.

According to a source, “Neil who’s very close to Yash Raj Films has convinced Aditya Chopra to let Gadhvi do the third Dhoom movie. Neil himself is very keen on being part of the third installment.

Adi assured him there would be room for the young actor who’s currently shooting for Yash Raj’s Lafange Parinde.”

When contacted Sanjay Gadhvi, the young director said, “Everyone keeps asking me about ‘Dhoom 3.’ But the franchise belongs to Yash Raj Films. If Adi asks me to do it, I’d take the plunge, no two ways about it. Anything for Adi.”

Meanwhile, Neil Nitin Mukesh is tight lipped about the whole project as he said, “Who doesn’t want to be part of the ‘Dhoom’ franchise? I’d love to be in ‘Dhoom 3.’ If Adi directs it, nothing like it. I’ve met Sanjay Gadhvi for a movie over a meal of rajma and chawal, and that’s all I can tell you right now.”

“See ‘Click’ is not my comeback in Bollywood because the film doesn’t revolve around me. I need a film like ‘Lucky’ (her debut vehicle) to make a comeback; then I can show what I can do,” Sneha told.

“Now it’s time I prove myself because there are a lot of people who misguided me in Bollywood – whom I trusted. I never knew Bollywood is like that, you know,” she said.

The young actress has already signed two Hindi movies, including one opposite Akshay Kumar.

“I am doing a film with Ashok Tyagi where Akshay Kapoor is my co-star and there is another film with Shubir Mukherjee. The film is being launched by Joy Mukherjee’s son Sujoy. One of them is a thriller, the other is a love story and both are expected to release later this year,” said Sneha.

Sneha made her debut in 2005 opposite Salman Khan and her second release was “Aryan: Unbreakable” (2006) with Sohail Khan. After that she moved down south and featured in Telugu films like “Nenu Meeku Telusa…?” and “Ullasanga Utsahanga”.

“I have done three films in the south and the fourth is releasing in April. In the south, people are very genuine. They will tell you the right things. I had rejected one film because I was not comfortable kissing on screen.

“Two months later, I got another film and I called the same director, whose film I had rejected, for some guidelines and he guided me properly. It’s unlike Bollywood. Here people will misguide you and take you in the wrong direction. That’s what happened with me,” said Sneha.

The 22-year-old feels she owes a lot to southern cinema. “I won’t stop doing films in the south ever. It teaches you how to be an actor…how to be a lady. I don’t know about Bollywood as I haven’t done much work here.”

But at the same time she is keen to leave her mark in Bollywood as well and says she will be less choosy about roles than earlier.

“I am going to do any role now that takes me to another level. If my role is good, I don’t mind even if it’s a D-grade film,” said Sneha.

“I was choosy, but it didn’t work for me. I need to learn because that’s what an actor is all about. She needs to play different kinds of characters…You can’t stick to one genre.”

Asked if she has any regrets about her initial years in Bollywood, Sneha said: “I don’t regret but if I am to re-do, I will re-do now. I don’t regret because ‘Lucky’ gave me name; people know me today because of ‘Lucky’.”
